Interview with Nancy Hornburg (ex-War On Women)

Our collective is not just punk, it is first and foremost, feminist. Feminist means that we will always fight for equal opportunities for women and non-binary artists in the punk and underground scene. It also means that we will always advocate for safer spaces within this scene. So if you are problematic, toxic or accused of any form of abuse, to anybody in this scene, we will talk about it and make sure people are aware of your actions. We believe survivors and we are here to give them a voice.

2 months ago, Nancy Hornburg, came out with a statement that explains thoroughly what she has been through during her time as a guitarist for the band War On Women. We feel that her experience needs to be shared.

It is important to identify red flags, realize that you have support, and that there are some people to help you in these situations. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you believe you have, or are facing similar interactions.

When someone tells you to "sit somewhere else" when you raise a flag about someone in your band, it is unacceptable. We were all big fans of War On Women, and unfortunately their most disappointing behavior for us, was their statement.

We believe Nancy Hornburg, and it was a pleasure to have her share her experience with us, and we hope you will enjoy it too.

2020: HEAR THEM ROAR

Band: Dream Nails / Photographer: Jeroen Jacobs The year 2020 was probably off to a good start for many of us. The prospect of new music, new shows, new ways to kick doors down and share art that means a lot to us, was promising once again. Then, around mid march, it all came to a stop. The whole industry was placed on hold while new ways of doing things were put in place to take care of everyone around us. It didn't stop us from being heard though. It didn't take long for independant medias and artists to get the ball rolling again. After all, most of us have been doing it ourselves for so long. We were up for the challenge.  Eventually new music was recorded, virtual events became a thing, and through online communities, voices have been heard. We are proud to say that it ended up being a good year for women and marginalized artists. We have discovered so many great bands, have seen so many amazing events being organized, and most of all, we've seen all of you getting tog...
