Witches of the Week #3: Local News Legend



1- Where is the band from and what's the best thing to do there?

We are from Lancaster, Pennsylvania! My personal favorite thing to do here is go to a diner late at night and sit and talk with friends.

2- What does your name stand for and what was the runner up?

Local News Legend is the name of a episode of a cartoon called  Regular Show. Honestly don't know why I picked it but the runner up was Donut Shop Holiday. 

3- Describe your sound using a movie title.

4- Describe each band member using a meal.

April would be hummus, because everyone likes her no matter where they're from or what kind of person they are. Max would be hot wings cause they are a fan favorite but if you fuck with them they know how to shut ya down. I (Emily) would probably be a oldass aged cheese cause I'm an acquired taste but worth it. 

5- Name 3 bands who would headline your dream fest?

Hole, Together Pangea, Sufjan Stevens

6- For or not being described as "female fronted"?

Some days I dig it and some days I don't. The days I am for it, it's usually because I feel powerful in my gender identity and I feel accomplished knowing how hard women have it in DIY music scenes and how rare it is to find a female fronted group sometimes. Other days when I hate it are usually when people are bombarding me either with negative comments about me being a woman and that's the only reason why people like our stuff or when I'm being objectified by men twice my age on youtube.

7- Are you signed on a label and why?

Nah, we can do it ourselves so we might as well. Also April, our banjo player is basically our manager and she makes her living off of music. So I wanna support her more than being signed. 

8- What's the most punk thing you've seen on tour/in a show?

My high school punk band played a dark wave / d-beat festival in upstate New York and this guy put a saw on his guitar, all while people were tacking eachother and throwing stale donuts at a ceiling fan and someone started a fire by throwing firecrackers in the pit. 

9- Best quarantine activies?

I've been trying to paint some portraits of friends. I've also been cooking new foods and failing but eating it anyways. Also I learned like 5 Bowie covers. 

10- What's the best way to support your band?

Stream us on spotify, or just listen to our tunes and dig us. When we tour, come see us!

INTERVIEW W/ KAT MOSS (SCOWL)

Interview w/ Victoria Mladenovski (Peer Pressure)

Peer Pressure is a straight foward, tough as nail, hardcore band from Quebec city. Formed in 2018, the band, fronted by singer Victoria Mladenovski , released a first EP that made lots of waves within the local punk/hardcore/metal community, and beyond. After a few shows around the province, Victoria quickly gained the reputation of being a fierce performer, with powerful vocals, that will make you wanna 2-step your way to the pit in a second.
